This past Sunday, we documented for our film the decorating of the historic Basilica of Ste. Anne de Detroit. Each year, as Pastoral Associate Anne-Marie Fry explained to us, church volunteers gather on the weekend before Christmas to help decorate the 135 year old structure. The “Stone Church” was originally located in downtown Detroit and built in 1818. This present location is the eighth version but it contains many artifacts from the original stone church.
These colorful detailed decorations will all be in celebration of what is a multicultural Christmas celebration at Ste. Anne’s.
