we had the very special opportunity to film with Rev. Canon Jean-Baptiste Commins from St. Joseph Shrine located in the heart of the Eastern Market.

Canon has been the spiritual leader with St. Joseph for the last five months. This magnificent shrine built by German immigrants 150 years ago is now going through a multi-million dollar renovation that Canon Commins is helping to oversee. Canon Commins, who is originally from Versailles, France shared the rich history of those from the German community who would come to Detroit as early settlers.
