Pastor Garrett Mostowski is without a doubt on a mission from God. The 34-year-old and his wife co-pastor Sarah Logemann came from Indiana and have been the spiritual leaders at Fort Street Presbyterian Church for the last twenty months. Mostowski knew coming in that the once thriving church with a congregation of some of Detroit’s wealthiest families back in the early 1900s has been on a different journey since the late seventies.

The church still stands as one of Detroit’s most iconic historical sites with the gothic revival architecture and floors adorned with pewabic tiles and has become a beacon of hope for the low income and homeless individuals in the area. Those still committed to making the trek from the suburbs down on a Sunday morning for a sermon from this young, dynamic, spiritual leader will for sure leave feeling the impact of his humanitarian leadership. Mostowski offered an insightful understanding of the rich history of Fort Street Presbyterian and how it survived the rebuilding of not one but two fires in its early history.

As we witnessed on our day filming with Pastor Garrett, the church has developed a powerful outreach program by listening to the needs of the people. We are proud and honored we can feature Pastor Garrett and Fort Street Presbyterian in our film.
